Welcome to Society of Toxicology India

India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Toxicology took birth in India with the establishment of Agricultural Universities and the Indian Toxicology Research Centre (IITR) Lucknow (formerly known as Industrial Toxicology Research Centre) in 1960’s.To enhance human, animal and environmental health through the science of toxicology, The Society of Toxicology of India (STOX) was established in 1979.

The Society of Toxicology (STOX) India is a professional and scholarly organization of experts’ from government, industrial, Consultants, academic institutions representing the great variety of scientists who practice toxicology and Good Laboratory Practice (in toxicology areas) as in India and abroad. We are committed, to create a safer and healthier world by advancing the science of toxicology. The Society has a strong pledge on education in toxicology and Good Laboratory Practice to the younger generation who will be practicing the discipline of Toxicology. 

Introduction

Toxicology is the study of the adverse effects of chemical, physical or biological agents on living organisms and the ecosystem, including the prevention and amelioration of such adverse effects. Toxicology has emerged as an important area of biomedical research today, the importance of which has already been felt more and more in every corner of the world. This major area of health research provides information not only on how to safeguard our own health but also the health of the environment around us. The personnel working in this area cut across a broad spectrum of scientific and technological disciplines, from biology to medicine, engineering to molecular biology, chemistry to mathematical modeling.
